Information Sidebar Tab Overview

Summary: The information sidebar is a great way to quickly draw attention to specific information that can be relayed in more detail than is possible with a simple link.  The Information Sidebar functions in almost identical fashion to the Navigation Sidebar but in addition to links, it can also contain a description of the item that explains the subject in significant depth so that a user can have more information before they decide to follow a link.  Excellent for news releases and Current Events, the Information Sidebar is a powerful way to add structure to your web pages.

1)Include Information Sidebar

Function: This option will determine whether the Information Sidebar will be displayed or not.  The setting is Off by default.  Normally, when switched on, it will appear on the right side of the web page unless the Navigation Sidebar is also switched on and is set to appear on the right side of the page, in which case the Information Sidebar will move over to the left side of the web page.  In any case, if the Information Sidebar is set to display, you must have at least one item entered in it in order for it to display.

2) Add New Row  /  Remove Selected Row  /  Insert New Row

Function: These buttons allow you to manage the links that will appear in this section.

Add New Row:  Creates a blank row after the last existing row
Remove Selected Row:  Deletes the rows that is currently selected
Insert New Row: Creates a new row above the currently selected row.  To Insert a row, click in the row below where you want the inserted row to appear and then click on the Insert New Row button.

Note: It may appear that the feature is functioning properly at when you insert rows at first but once you click into the other rows or close the RWD form and re-open it, the rows will appear properly.

3) Display Title

Function: Use this field to enter the headline or title of the item in the Information Sidebar.

Note: You can insert images that have been uploaded to your website right into the body of this section by using a special tag: [img=image path/filename]
Eg.  To insert a picture called myhouse.jpg that had been uploaded into a local images folder called 'local_images' into the section you would choose the location in the body of the text where you want the image to appear and insert the following syntax (including the square brackets): [img=local_images/myhouse.jpg]       You can use most image file formats, including animated .gif files to create interesting effects.

4) Content

Function: This field contains the main content of the selected section. It will be displayed after the headline, and before the link.  While you have room to give a short summary of your item, try not to put too much text in here but rather use the feature to draw users to another page that contains the full story that you wish to convey.

You can insert images that have been uploaded to your website right into the body of this section by using a special tag: [img=image path/filename] (see section 2 above for an example)

5) Link Display

You can insert images that have been uploaded to your website right into the body of this section by using a special tag: [img=image path/filename] (see section 2 above for an example)

6) Link To

Information Sidebar Global Style

1) Background Color

Function: This field is used to select a solid background color from either the preset colors, or from a user-defined color made on the Define Custom Colors tab.

2) Use Image

Function: Selecting (checking) this option will override the Background Color choice and replace the background with the image supplied in the Path/File Name field. This image will be tiled to fill the information sidebar.

3)Path/File Name

Function: This field contains the location and name of the file to be used as the background graphic.

4) Transparent

Function: This field sets the Information Sidebar as transparent so that any text or graphics in the object will be displayed against the background color or the background image. It overrides the color settings for the background of the Info Title and Info Body.

5) Width

Function: This field sets the width for the Information Sidebar (in pixels).  If not set, the Information Sidebar will size itself to the widest contiguous string of characters in any of the rows in the object.

6) Use Border

Function: This field adds or removes the Information Sidebar border. When the border is removed, the outside padding of the Information Sidebar is set to zero which means it will butt up against the lowest object in the Header Section above.
